Jordyn’s journey to enrich lives through music

Hi, my name is Jordyn Brandman, and I am a current 12th grader at Roslyn High School. Two years ago, I founded what would not only become my greatest accomplishment but my true passion. I combined my love of musical theater with my desire to help others to create my organization, Performing-heARTS (performing-hearts.com). My team and I work with other professional educators and nonprofit organizations–we strive to impact and educate children and young adults with special needs through musical theater.

Little Mentors has partnered with Performing-heARTS in the past for themed musical therapy sessions to bring smiles through music.

Each week, I teach music & movement classes over zoom, and seeing the smiles of all my students not only brightens the zoom screen, but also my days. In addition to weekly classes, Performing-heARTS holds fundraisers to support nonprofits such as The National Association for Down Syndrome, The Miracle Project, and the National Autism Association. All students, despite their disabilities, should understand the joy musical theater brings to countless lives: I ensure this is possible. Every Sunday when I see my participants, they remind me of what is truly important: enriching the lives of others.
